Night ride into mountais

Not so long a go we received a generous gift from a bike store Ebike  - based in Riga. A package of some really useful items for our upcoming Moroccan bike expedition. Headlights and backlights for our bikes, brand new Ebike team clothes and brand new wind 4ever jackets. Barcelona is still too warm and too bright to test this new stuff, so we hit a road to Alpens (~850m alt.), situated in foothills of Pyrenees. It’s place where our friends live in the countryside house deep in the mountains away from noise and pollution of the big city.

We start our ride late in the afternoon. We have 100km in front of us, mainly uphill. Already halfway we are caught by pitch black darkness and peaceful silence of surrounding us pine forest and completely car-free roads that are illuminated by powerful beams of our new headlights…

Life in countryside is busy and at the same time relaxed. Autumn is the time of preparation, that means collecting everything edible from the forest and preserving it for upcoming winter. Surroundings are full of medical herbs, berries and mushrooms.

We took a long hike to the top of closest mountain to visit an old church that is standing there since XII century and has outstanding panorama view on land that lay below it. We return home as the night falls on mountains, tired, but fulfilled with new impressions and baskets and backpacks full of forest goods.
